Description
Class Experience
This course is for any reader to share their favorite book or a book they wish to discuss in a group. Each student will bring a book to class that is between 150-300 pages long and we'll read the books as a group together. Students do NOT have to own the books, but they do need to have a copy of the book for the two meetings used for discussing each book. This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to use their critical thinking skills to discuss what happens in books and how it relates to us. Students will be able to expand their perspective by sharing books with others.
Students are expected to read the book outside of class time. Books will be divided in half for the two meetings that are used for discussion. For example, if the book is 200 pages, students will have to read about 100 pages for the first meeting and second 100 pages for the second meeting. The reading schedule will be posted in the classroom before the second meeting.
Students are required to have a copy of each book. It does NOT need to be owned, but can be any format. Audiobook, e-book, or a physical copy are all acceptable options for this class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
