SUMMARY
In this Russian Language course which consists of several levels, we will 1) overcome our fears of learning Russian language, 2) acquire a basic level of Russian needed to communicate, to be understood, and to understand other people, 3) get familiar with the language so it is no longer a stranger to us. This class continues to cover the fundamentals of Russian language (that we started in Level 1) and provides a solid base for communication. We will practice speaking and understanding, expanding our vocabulary and grammar knowledge.

WHAT WE WILL LEARN
In Level 1 we tasted what Russian language is like and we learned basic phrases that can be immediately used in everyday situations.

In Level 2 we are learning more vocabulary and what to do with it. Level 2 will include a lot of nouns and useful rules for using them.

At the end of Level 2, we will be able to 1) say which things we have or don't have, 2) play simple language games using only the Russian words and phrases that we know, 3) learn new vocabulary consisting on nouns and new verbs, 4) practice our reading and comprehension using short stories, 5) and talk about what we eat and drink.

Why this sequence of lessons?
In traditional study of Russian, a lot of emphasis is put on studying the minute details of each letter and sound, and it takes months for students to progress which leaves them discouraged.
In this class, a lot of emphasis will be put on the desire of learners to communicate in the target language. They want to say something, to read something, to understand others. We cover the most used vocabulary and grammar in the sequence that is recommended by polyglots who study Russian as a foreign language.

CLASS PARTICIPATION
To be successful in this course (as always):
1) Turn your camera on during the meetings for best experience;
2) Keep your mic on so that you can ask and answer questions and participate in class;
3) Bring a separate notebook for all the new words and phrases that we will learn and a folder for all the printouts;
4) Bring notes from all the past classes so you can refer to them as we build on our previous knowledge.

Привет, ребята!

Меня зовут Miss Tanya and I am a native Russian speaker.

I teach Russian language Courses for English speakers: 1 set of Courses for learners 8-13 years old, and another set of Courses for teenagers 13-18 years old. Learners can start from absolute 0 and progress through the Course series to higher-Intermediate and Advanced Levels.

I also teach additional Russian language classes and help students in private classes.

My lessons with Outschool learners tend to be very structured and each activity has its purpose. Though I consider myself to be a calm individual, I receive a lot of feedback from parents and learners that my lessons are fun and engaging. It brings me joy seeing learners progress and learn something new.

I have a vast teaching background working in daycare, public schools, private school, church, winter and summer camps, and with in-home tutoring students. I worked with children as young as 1 year old and as old as 17!
I have earned two years towards BA in Elementary Education from Moscow State Pedagogical University (МПГУ), in Russia. Then I moved from Russia and finished my education in the United States. I hold an AA in Elementary Education (Community College of Aurora, CO) and a BA in Education with Emphasis on Elementary Math (MSU Denver, CO). I have worked at Denver Public Schools for 3 years. And now I teach on Outschool.

I love reading books, learning new languages (I am primarily learning Spanish), playing musical instruments (cello is my favorite), and making delicious vegetarian meals for my family.

My office hours are (in EST/US-New York):
Monday and Wednesday: 9 AM-7 PM
Tuesday and Thursday: 9 AM-3 PM

I often reply to messages and requests outside of my office hours, but if you notice that I read your message and have not replied to it yet, I will message you back as soon as I can.
