As it is a one-time class only, it is completely up to you if you wish to review and practice the learned materials after class.Class Experience
This class is intended for learners with no prior Russian language knowledge or experience. This class will include some elements of a lecture (via google slides) as well as the practice of phonemes (sounds), words and phrases. We will also do interactive games to help retain the new material. They will practice greeting and introduction dialogues with the teacher and each other. As this is a beginning level class, a lot of new concepts will necessarily be presented in English but the Russian alphabet and vocabulary (greetings and introductions) will be practiced in Russian.

Students will learn and practice greeting others and introducing themselves in Russian.

A one-page handout will be provided but you are also encouraged to take some notes as well during the class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I'm Mila and I am excited to be a part of your learning journey! I first started teaching when I was still a student in the Russian University. I majored in Linguistics and English Philology. I moved to the United States over 18 years ago. Over the years, I have taught in different public school and charter school settings, given private and group lessons in Russian and ESL. I have also been homeschooling my own children for over 12 years now. I love to learn about different cultures and I believe that learning a foreign language can help us better understand a foreign culture and people. When learning a foreign language, students don’t only study grammatical structures but they also develop greater empathy, improve their ability to concentrate and focus, and prepare themselves for success in their future lives.
I hope to offer a variety of classes to my prospective students that I have so enjoyed both teaching and learning about.
I firmly believe that learning a foreign language can help you understand and appreciate a foreign people and their culture in a much deeper way than you would otherwise be able to do. I know from personal experience that you can greatly enrich your life by learning and speaking a foreign language. I think learning makes better people of us all.

- I wrote my thesis paper on ‘Neologisms [newly coined words and expressions] in the Harry Potter Books’.
