Class Experience

ATENTION:
This class is 7-10 age category.
I have the same class with 3-6 age category.

The class is conducted in Russian (with English translation) by a native speaker, it will provide learning skills in literacy, math, art, and Russian culture. In this class the student will learn basic Russian phonics and pronunciation through songs and picture association.
The curriculum is designed to keep early learners engaged through classic Russian fairytales and rhymes.
The student will learn a variety of vocabulary while we read stories and sing songs that reinforce the vocabulary.
An abundance of activities including flash cards, play doh, Schleich animals, songs, puppets, coloring and more creates a fun and engaging time for students.

This is a two and a half weeks camp.
Every class is designed with a similar flow.
Week1-2:
1. Each class will start with the Russian alphabet song. We will then do an alphabet puzzle that is provided in the handout.

2. After that we will discuss phonics and pronunciation of specific sounds that require some special attention. The puppet dragon will help the students to feel more open minded about trying new sounds.

3. Each class then will continue with learning the sounds that animals make in Russian languge, and their names. Pre-cutting the animal cards, supplied in the handout, will be required to be able to play “What animal is this?” . Repetition of this activity will help develop a good vocabulary as well as memory training.

4. A short song with a movement activity will follow. (This helps to get some energy out and be ready for some more learning)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, My name is Vlada and I teach Russian language from US.
I was born and Russia and spend half of my life in there. I have gotten classical education in one of the oldest European Universities in Russia.
I have lived in US for 15 years and I love teaching Russian to my students.

I come from a family of teachers and early childhood educators.I would love to share my methods of teaching the Russian language to kids through play, fun and association.

Studies by Harvard University confirm that the creativity, critical thinking skills, and flexibility of the mind are significantly enhanced if children learn a second and a third language at a younger age. From zero to seven are believed to be a vital period in a child’s life. This is when the foundations for attitudes, thinking, and learning, among others, are laid down.

Happy Learning!
