Beginner Level
The purpose of this class is to give students an introduction to the Russian language to see if they are interested in pursuing it in a longer-term class, as well as to introduce myself as a teacher to see if we will make a good fit together. During class, the students will be briefly introduced to the Russian language and culture. They will begin learning by watching a short video on the beloved children's character named Baba Yaga. We will practice the Cyrillic alphabet, and learn at least one common phrase including how to say 'hello' and 'my name is ______.' The class will be held on Zoom for 30 minutes, and the students will interact with the teacher by asking questions and participating in pronunciation practice. *** I now offer a comprehensive 10-week beginning course on the Russian language.
Learning Goals
This course is for absolute beginners who want to experience a sample class for the Russian language to decide whether it is a good fit for them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I spent four years learning Russian while studying at the University of Arizona. I was able to learn from a lot of amazing professors, not only the Russian language, but also culture, history, geography, folklore, and diplomacy. I participated in language exchange during this time with several Russians where we would read books, stories, and practice our language skills several times per week. I'm excited to get to share this incredible language with you!
