In this Camp we will learning the most important things that make up Russian Culture. Get your child inspired by the culture that is more then 7000 years old. We will talk about the folk costume, folk music, traditional dance, traditional art, traditional food, Ancient traditions and celebrations that are still alive. We will also talk about some main historic facts about Russia, and discuss most famous buildings and their architecture. The class is conducted in English with Russian words and traditional songs in Russian language (will be translated) by a Russian native speaker, so some accent to be expected. In this Camp I am telling you about a country where I was born and have spent half of my life. It is beautiful and hard to understand, but only can be felt through the beauty of it’s culture. Week 1 Day 1: Russian History and Main Facts. Main Attributes of Russian Folk Culture. I will have a few items in the class during the meeting. I will be discussing famous art pieces, portraying the traditional Russian attributes of the culture. The students are encouraged to discuss the details of the paintings and the links to all the recommended art galleries at Russian Online Museums will be provided. We will be discussing what they found interesting at that museum at the beginning of the next class. As an option during the class meeting we are going to be making “Dymkovskaya igrushka” as one of the main attributes of Russian traditional Culture. Your child can use play dough or clay. Week 1 Day 2: We will be putting together a craft project inspired by Kreml, which actually a Medieval fortress. Week 2 Day 1: Russian Traditional Music. Russian Traditional Music Instruments. Russian Traditional Song. We are going to listen to a few songs. Prepare to be exposed to a wide range of styles. The students will be encouraged to imagine what the singer is singing about by the tone of the song. I am going to be singing songs. During the class we are going to be making a Traditional Russian Headdress . Please print the handout. Week 2 Day 2: Russian Traditional Celebrations. During the class we will be making St.Basil Cathedral. Please have some play dough/clay ready.

I was born and Russia and spend half of my life in there. I have gotten classical education in one of the oldest European Universities in Russia.
I have lived in US for 15 years and I love teaching Russian to my students.
I come from a family of teachers and early childhood educators.I would love to share my methods of teaching the Russian language to kids through play, fun and association.
