1-2 hours per week. Before each class, read a few paragraphs of Folk Tale of the week so at least you are familiar with the main characters and the starting point of each Folk Tale.Class Experience
In this class, we will read and discuss four Russian Folk Tales. We will read for pleasure, practice reading Russian, look at new words and see what they mean in context, discuss future plot developments and do some reading at home as well. We will look at the word choice as well as the moral of the story in each folk tale. Prepare to read some unusual folk tales that you might not have heard before! Before class, read a few paragraphs so at least you are familiar with the main characters and the starting point of each Folk Tale. In class, we will read the story using popcorn style reading, we will discuss what is happening and look at words that learners might not understand. Children get to share what they think about the story and voice their predictions for the plot development. Russian Folk Tales - Русские сказки: Week 1 "Сивка-Бурка" (Sivka Burka); Week 2 "Царевна-Лягушка" (Princess Frog); Week 3 "Напуганные Медведь и Волки" (Scarred Bear and Wolves); Week 4 "Кот и Лиса" (Cat and Fox). 1. This class is taught in Russian language and will be beneficial for learners who already speak and read Russian. 2. Please, do not read ahead. But if you do, please, don't share the plot developments with other learners. 3. The Folk Tales are available in print (but in separate books) and online. Message me for more details.

Привет, ребята!
Меня зовут Miss Tanya and I am a native Russian speaker.
I teach Russian language Courses for English speakers: 1 set of Courses for learners 8-13 years old, and another set of Courses for teenagers 13-18 years old. Learners can start from absolute 0 and progress through the Course series to higher-Intermediate and Advanced Levels.
I also teach additional Russian language classes and help students in private classes.
My lessons with Outschool learners tend to be very structured and each activity has its purpose. Though I consider myself to be a calm individual, I receive a lot of feedback from parents and learners that my lessons are fun and engaging. It brings me joy seeing learners progress and learn something new.
I have a vast teaching background working in daycare, public schools, private school, church, winter and summer camps, and with in-home tutoring students. I worked with children as young as 1 year old and as old as 17!
I have earned two years towards BA in Elementary Education from Moscow State Pedagogical University (МПГУ), in Russia. Then I moved from Russia and finished my education in the United States. I hold an AA in Elementary Education (Community College of Aurora, CO) and a BA in Education with Emphasis on Elementary Math (MSU Denver, CO). I have worked at Denver Public Schools for 3 years. And now I teach on Outschool.
I love reading books, learning new languages (I am primarily learning Spanish), playing musical instruments (cello is my favorite), and making delicious vegetarian meals for my family.
My office hours are (in EST/US-New York):
Monday and Wednesday: 9 AM-7 PM
Tuesday and Thursday: 9 AM-3 PM
I often reply to messages and requests outside of my office hours, but if you notice that I read your message and have not replied to it yet, I will message you back as soon as I can.
