Russian Book Club for Bilingual / Russian Speakers: Folk Tales.
We will read Folk Tales in Russian language. We will read for pleasure and share our opinions, while also discussing elements of the story, characters and plot. Learners need to be able to speak and read Russian on level of short books.

In this class, we will read and discuss four Russian Folk Tales. We will read for pleasure, practice reading Russian, look at new words and see what they mean in context, discuss future plot developments and do some reading at home as well. We will look at the word choice as well as the moral of the story in each folk tale. Prepare to read some unusual folk tales that you might not have heard before! In class, we will read the story using popcorn style reading, we will discuss what is happening and look at words that learners might not understand. Children get to share what they think about the story and voice their predictions for the plot development. Russian Folk Tales - Русские сказки: Week 1 "Сивка-Бурка" (Sivka Burka); Week 2 "Царевна-Лягушка" (Princess Frog); Week 3 "Напуганные Медведь и Волки" (Scarred Bear and Wolves); Week 4 "Кот и Лиса" (Cat and Fox). 1. This class is taught in Russian language and will be beneficial for learners who already speak and read Russian. 2. Please, do not read ahead. But if you do, please, don't share the plot developments with other learners. 3. The Folk Tales are available in print (but in separate books) and online. Message me for more details.
