Ruin and Rising: Young Adult Fantasy Book Club

Students will engage in book group discussions each week. Through these discussions we will work on comprehension skills, analyzing the characters and their actions, making connections, discussing the author's purpose for including different events and characters in the book, and comparing and contrasting different characters and events.

I am a licensed school librarian with a love of young adult books! I have lead book groups and discussions with students across a wide variety of age groups. I am currently working on a second master's degree in children and young adult literature.

Students are expected to have the reading completed before each class period. There will be about 70 pages for students to read before each class. 

Class 1- Before- Chapter 3
Class 2- Chapters 4- 6
Class 3- Chapters 7-9
Class 4- Chapters 10- 12
Class 5- Chapters 13- 15
Class 6- Chapters 16- After

1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
