You are the crew of Space Rescue Emergency Vessel III. You are steering your ship through a meteorite shower when an urgent signal comes from headquarters—a ship in your sector is under attack by space pirates! The crew must rescue captured scientists and engineers to gain their scientific knowledge. This knowledge is used to learn how to use technology to complete tasks, battle the pirates, and free the fleet. Since this is a choose-your-own-story role playing game there is no set schedule....
Students will improve their knowledge in STEM fields (Chemistry, Atmospheric Science, Molecular Biology, and Physics), peak their interest in these topics, and how the knowledge is used in real-life applications.
I have 10 years of experience teaching STEAM to all levels and ages. I am always excited to teach these subjects in unconventional ways that encourage imagination and discoveries of real-world applications.
Workbook (provided the week prior to class) Pencil Scissors Tape
Once a learner completes the rescue they will be awarded a "galactic metal" for their part in the mission.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Scissors should always be handled with care and adults should be aware of their learner's skill level and the amount of supervision they require.
This class is very loosely based on the choose-your-own-story #22 "Space Patrol" (1983). The students DO NOT need to read this book .
