Let’s Draw and Paint a Pop Art Roy Lichtenstein Cat. I will start of by talking about the artist and showing examples of his work. With my guidance students will draw a cat and add a callout of their choice (ROAR!) Next they will divide the background in sections. Students will be encouraged to paint in bright primary colors like the artist used We will end by using a black crayon/black oil pastel to outline and add patterns This is a guided drawing class, however students are encouraged to be creative in how they depict their background and choice of colors. Note: Please do not use printer/copy paper...children are disappointed when their work is floppy and doesn't hold up to painting. If you are unable to get a watercolor pad then mixed media would be another choice. A drawing paper pad, though not meant for painting could work as the paper is a little sturdier.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to the work of Roy Lichtenstein
