Round and Round We Go! Introduction to Rounding Large Numbers

Students will learn about why it is important to round numbers. We will start with rounding to the nearest ten and then work our way up to the nearest hundred thousand. It will be helpful for students to have a basic knowledge of place value, but we will review it at the beginning of class. I will instruct students and show examples before they try the work on their own. We will use fun real life examples to practice this skill. We will end with some challenge problems and a game. This class is great for any student who needs a review of rounding or is learning about it for the first time.
