Read alouds are SO important for children! They help build foundational reading skills, introduce new vocabulary, provide a model of expressive and fluent reading as well as help instill a love of reading. My name is Miss Hallie and I am so excited to be your child's teacher! I am a full-time certified K-6 elementary education teacher with 8 years of teaching experience. I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education K-6 and a BS in English from a top liberal arts school. Over the past 8 years, I have had the privilege of teaching first and second grade in some of the top school districts in New Jersey. I work with an average of 20 students each year, ranging in academic levels and backgrounds. As a general education classroom teacher (currently teaching second grade), I have experience teaching all subjects (math, science, social studies, reading, writing, phonics/spelling). In addition to teaching students in-person, I have experience teaching students who are learning remotely via Zoom. I also have several years of experience tutoring students one-on-one and in small group sessions. I have received extensive training in Reader's and Writer's Workshop from top educators at the Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City. I also have received training in Wilson Language Fundations, a multi-sensory, structured language program for children. I have had the opportunity to implement several math programs in the classroom, such as, Go Math, EnVision and Math in Focus: Singapore Math. Additionally, I have received training in the Next Generation Science Standards in order to teach hands-on, inquiry based science lessons. My goal is to make learning fun, engaging and hands-on for all students!
