Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Intermediate Level
In this three-week class, students will learn the "rolling numbers" technique of skip counting to help them quickly recall multiplication and division facts for numbers 3-12.

The technique involves learning a chant for each set of number facts and using their fingers along with each number in order to build the connection between skip counting and the multiplication fact. Please see the class video for an example chant.

In each class, we’ll learn a new number song, and learn how to use it to answer multiplication problems. There will also be a review class.

Each class will be structured as follows:
1) Introduction: The teacher will model the day's song
2) Learning: We will use a slideshow to visualize the numbers and break the song down into easy-to-remember sections. Students will each have an opportunity to perform each chunk of the song, and then the song in its entirety.
3) Application: If time allows, students will apply their new knowledge to solving multiplication and division facts through flashcards or a game.

Videos for each song will be posted in the classroom so students can practice and review at their convenience.

This course is not appropriate for students who are completely new to multiplication, or who cannot skip count by 2, 5, and 10. This course is also not appropriate for students who have already memorized all or most of their multiplication facts.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to skip-count by 3, 4, 6, 7 , 8, 9, and 12. Students will be able to apply their skip-counting skills to solving multiplication and division facts.

Welcome to Ms. Jericha’s Mathprov Academy!

We’re all about combining the awesomeness of math with the magic of improv.

Our mission? It’s a two-in-one deal. First, we embrace the “yes, and” rule from improv and weave it into our online classes. We meet students right where they’re at (that’s the “yes” part!), and then we kick it up a notch by adding to what they already know and helping them soar (that’s the “and” part!).

We’re not afraid to switch things up, adapt on the fly, and keep the learning experience fresh and exciting.

Whether your child enrolls in our group math classes, private tutoring, or improv courses, it’s about unleashing their creativity, boosting their confidence, and embracing spontaneity.

At Ms. Jericha’s Mathprov Academy, we’re not just teaching – we’re inspiring, empowering, and having an absolute blast along the way. Get ready to rock math and roll with improv like never before!

Meet our Teachers:

⭐NEW TEACHER SPOTLIGHT⭐

🍎Ms. Jennifer - Math Teacher

I'm Jennifer, I have over twenty years of experience in education. Throughout my career, I've worked with students ranging from preschoolers to college-level learners. My teaching journey has taken me into traditional classroom settings, one-on-one tutoring sessions, and the online classroom. Regardless of where I am teaching, my greatest passion lies in fostering meaningful connections between my students and the subject matter.

I enjoy connecting with students in a fun and engaging environment. I believe that this helps foster an environment where students can learn and improve and become masters of the subject they are studying.

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family, I have 3 children and my husband and our Boston Terrier, Maverick.

I look forward to working with you soon!

🍎Ms. Jericha - Founder and Lead Teacher

My name is Jericha. I teach math and improv classes at the upper elementary and middle school levels. I like to connect course material to my students' interests and passions.

I hold a bachelor's degree in elementary education, with a minor in theatre. I have also held multiple state teaching licenses with endorsements in elementary education and middle school theatre.

I spent two years as a 5th-grade teacher in a public school setting, and a year as a kindergarten teacher in a private childcare setting. However, the last six years have been dedicated to creating the best learning experience possible for students in online settings.

I believe in engaging students in an energetic and casual environment. I want my students to leave my classroom feeling like they learned something, had fun, and were seen and understood by their teacher. I earn so much satisfaction from watching my students grow over time, and feeling like I had a small part in helping them to become the people they want to be.

When I'm not in the classroom, I love spending time with my five-year-old daughter, my spouse, and our two snuggly cats! I am obsessed with Broadway, Disney movies, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I look forward to getting to know your learner!
