Students will learn the five w's of writing. (who, what, when, where and why) We will learn how to take a short sentence and stretch it out using these five w's by "Rolling a Story." We will be writing a funny Christmas story. The teacher will roll the dice and each student will be given a random character, setting and problem involving the beach and turn them into a one of a kind story. We will work together to incorporate the five w's into their sentences and stories. At the end of class...
Students will learn how to stretch out their sentences and put them together to create a fun short story.
Paper and pencil (Optional) Students are welcome to bring their own dice. Not required. (Optional) Parents may print off the Roll a Story handout for their student if they like. Not required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
