During this "Rollin' with Pikachu", craft class students will follow step by step directions to create their very own Pokemon tube. The class will start out with the teacher and students playing Pikachu trivia. After the game, we will discuss what the students may know about Pokemon and why they like Pikachu. The students will be encouraged to take turns speaking, as well as listening to what other students are saying in the classroom. Students will follow step by step directions to complete their Pikachu roll. Before class starts the students should be encouraged to find materials to create their Pikachu craft (a suggested list of materials will be given). The students can be creative and think out of the box, not all of the Pikachus need to look the same.
Learning Goals
-Students will practice listening and speaking skills by taking turns talking during game time and when making their "Rollin' with Pikachu" craft.
-Students will follow step by step directions to create their recycled Pikachu craft project.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Missy.
I have been a teacher for the past 19 years. I have taught every grade 1st-8th (with the exception of 2nd grade). Currently, I am an Instruction Coach and work with teachers to help build curriculum, foster relationships with students, and add rigor to their lessons for comprehension and student engagement. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and I enjoy creating lessons for students that connect to real-life experiences. I truly believe that all students can learn, we all just may learn in a different way. I love the challenge of taking a lesson and creating multiple ways to teach it so that all students can access the content. I am a mother to three hockey-playing boys and we spend a lot of time in rinks (oddly enough I do not like being cold). My youngest son is dyslexic and I am always trying to find new ways to teach him. I take the same determination to help him be successful in my classroom to help others because I know that all students deserve a teacher who believes in them!
I am an avid reader and I love to be creative! I use my Cricut machine daily and I cant not wait to share my ideas with others. I will be teaching many different types of classes from reading strategies that work, study skills, note-taking, book discussions, and even how to create your own t-shirt designs. I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my passion for teaching and creativity with you and your child.
