US Grade 1 - 4
Get creative writing fiction stories with a Roll-A-Story. Students will be guided through the writing process: plan, draft, revise, edit, and final. Students will be able to share their story with the rest of the class. What does the week look like? Day 1: At the beginning of each week, students will be given the Roll-A-Story prompt where they roll a die to come up with their character, problem, and setting. Students then plan their writing on the provided Planning Page. Day 2: Write a rough draft. This is where students create their writing. They can use their own paper to plan a story. I will provide an example story along the way. Day 3: Students will learn how to revise their papers. They will be provided with a checklist on revising their paper and making it better. Day 4: After revising, students will edit their paper to make sure it is ready for their final draft. They may need additional help with this part if they have trouble spelling certain words. Day 5: Final draft day! Once students have gone through the writing process and finalized their writing on the provided paper they can share a video of them reading it or share an image of their final draft for others to read. This is a 4 week course. That means, students will write 4 different fiction stories. If they would like to write more, they are more than welcome to! I would love to read more stories if they are eager writers :) Week 1: Adventure Week 2: Fantasy Week 3: Mystery Week 4: Science Fiction **This is a self paced class. There are no live meetings. I will be available for additional help if requested. Students are asked to check in throughout the week and share their final draft at the end of the week. I ask that students give positive feedback to other students and be respectful with responses. This is such a fun way of learning to write and get creative! It is so great to see what all the students come up with! Happy writing!
