Roles of Words Part 1

In this course, students will learn the parts of speech to increase reading ability and comprehension. Through fun and games, we will look at the meanings and roles of the words beginning with verbs.

1 hour per week. I don't require homework assignments but do ask that practice of the study occurs.

I disagree with grades. I use the introduction, progress, and mastery system.

Beginner Level
The knowledge of the laws of English will improve reading skills and comprehension. Broken into parts, the classes offered will build on one another. Using active games, MadLibs, and discussions, the students and I will have fun learning.  Instead of a letter grade, students will receive a completion certification which will display introduced, progressing, or mastery.

This class is for any learner that is capable of learning.
Pre-Requisites
Any student enrolled in this class should know how to read at a second grade level.
Supply List
Sculpey clay or other ways to make 3D words, objects around the house, and a printer.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Throughout college, I was a substitute teacher for a private school.  After receiving my English education degree, I began teaching in a private school. I taught homeschooled students as well as those in a structured building. For about thirty years I taught children and adults of all ages and abilities.  I love English in all the realms.
