Lesson focus will be balanced between learning graded song lyrics with melodic and rhythmic phrasing and articulation and being able to manage the technical exercises e.g. to sing a major scale and arpeggio plus intervals of a major 2nd and major 3rd. Learners will also need to learn the rhythmic and melodic technical studies, which are to backing track and this will form part of the lesson warmup in the course of lessons. For this reason, we will work on the technical exercises before repertoire in the lessons. Learners will learn 3-5 performance pieces, based on their own musical interests and also the Rockschool graded song material. They will be given the opportunity to interact with each other via sharing their performance individually or by singing together. I am a positive and passionate singer that thrives off sharing my knowledge with young learners and love to nurture the same in the way I teach. I like to bring the individuality out of their singing voices with lots of encouragement and constructive and achievable goal setting.
Learning Goals
To get to know the students’ voices and help them develop their range, pitch accuracy and tone through vocal exercises and basic music theory.
To help them build confidence in their performance through focusing on their individual strengths and helping them pick the most suitable song repertoire to perform.
To prepare them for taking an RSL grade 1 vocal exam which consists of 3 performance pieces and technical exercises

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi I'm Sam! I'm a qualified music teacher and professional singer, and for years now I have specialised in teaching the Rockschool method - which prepares musicians for entering accredited music examinations (RSL Awards). I am also a Rockschool examiner so I know a lot about the exam process and how to get my students to pass!
I like to make my lessons engaging for learners by personalising the music and exercises I teach to their favourite styles and chart songs. I believe everybody is unique and this should be nurtured in our voices too. I train you to be the star you are!
During my time as a professional singer I have also been a princess entertainer, portraying characters like Moana, Jasmine and Tiana. You might see some of these characters popping up in my lessons every now and then!
I also have a 2 year old daughter who I do lots of singing and musical activities with and her musical talents are flourishing which makes me so proud. I'd like to create this warm and fun musical learning environment for young learners also and so you will see that I offer a range of different music-based classes for pre-school age range up to age 18 for more advanced musical concepts and skills. My aim is to provide a fun, musical learning experience through singing - that may not be commonly provided in mainstream education.
