In this One time 30 minute course, your learner will learn to read, write and use in a sentence, 6 high-frequency words using games, songs and practice. . We'll have fun with our shades and microphones as we rock out our sight words!
Class experience
In this class your learner will learn to read, write and use 6 high-frequency (sight) words in a sentence. I will screen-share fun, interactive google slides to guide instruction and practice. We will sing with our pretend microphones and cool shades (sunglasses) as we learn to identify sight words. There will be lots of movement as we read and identify sight words with a short repetitive song created by Ms. V. and a sight word song! In the end, learners will interact with a fun sight...
*Students will learn to identify, read and write 6 high-frequency sight words (a, and, are, at, can, for). *Students will practice using the 6 sight words in sentences. *Students will learn to share their ideas and take turns.
I have a Master's in Elementary Education and I am a former elementary and Pre-K teacher.
* white board, dry-erase marker and eraser OR paper with marker or crayon (for higher visibility than a pencil). * Optional items: Sunglasses and a pretend microphone (you can use a kitchen spoon, plastic flower or anything to pretend to sing into)! These items just add to the fun of the class and are not mandatory to participate. * Optional sight word cards & practice (pdf) that will be linked in the classroom. (writing/coloring tools needed)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students should know how to mute and unmute themselves or receive help from a parent. Students have the option to stand up to move and sing with the sight word video (see link below) and will need clear space in front of their screen area to dance in place. Parental guidance is suggested during music and movement. The use of Google slides and YouTube videos will not require a parent or student account as it will be used in screen-share mode only by Ms. V. These resources are for the sole purpose of adding visuals and music to the lesson activities. The google slides contain teacher-made slides and lyrics to teacher-made sight word songs that are visually colorful, fun and engaging. Parental Guidance is suggested during class and during completion of the optional practice sheets.
