Join Ms. V. for some music and fun as we learn how to identify words that rhyme and practice this skill with songs and a story!
In this class your learner will learn the "trick" to identify rhyming words. I will screen-share fun, interactive google slides to guide instruction and practice. We will sing with our pretend microphones and cool shades (sunglasses) as we learn to identify rhymes. There will be lots of movement as we use our bodies to help identify and "rock out" the rhymes with a short repetitive song created by Ms. V. and a Jack Hartman Rhyming song! In the end, learners will interact with a fun read...
Students will learn to identify rhyming words by listening for the same ending sounds of words. Students will learn to share their ideas and take turns.
I have a Master's in Elementary Education and I am a former elementary and Pre-K teacher.
Optional items: Sunglasses and a pretend microphone (you can use a kitchen spoon, plastic flower or anything to pretend to sing into)! These items just add to the fun of the class and are not mandatory to participate. Optional Printable worksheets, writing tools, coloring tools.
Students should know how to mute and unmute themselves or receive help from a parent. Students have the option to stand up to move and sing with the Jack Hartman rhyming video and will need clear space in front of their screen area to dance in place. Parental guidance is suggested during music and movement. Two optional worksheets will be given in the classroom to continue learning at home. Parental guidance may be necessary. The use of Google slides and YouTube videos will not require a parent or student account as it will be used in screen-share mode only by Ms. V. These resources are for the sole purpose of adding visuals and music to the lesson activities. The google slides contain teacher-made pictures of animal & object rhyming words and lyrics to teacher-made rhyming songs that are visually colorful, fun and engaging. Parental Guidance is suggested.
*Teacher created google slides and song (For screen-share only) *Jack Hartman YouTube rhyming song/video ( For screen-share only) *I Like Myself by: Karen Beaumont (read aloud by Ms. V.) *Printable Rhyming Match-Up worksheets (pdf) will be given inside the classroom.
