Arrrrr Mateys! In Rockin' Pirates Speech Club, we will learn all about pirates' favorite sound - "R"! In this course, learners can expect to learn exactly how the parts of the mouth work together to say the "R" sound. Students will learn tricks and tips for a really rockin' "R" sound! Students will practice saying the "R" sound in the beginnings, middles, and ends of words, in vowel-controlled contexts such as "car", "bird", and "girl", and in blends like "green", "breeze", and "princess"....
Students will learn about the parts of the mouth and how they work together to say the "R" sound. Students will learn tips and tricks for producing the "R" sound. Students will practice saying the "R" sound in a variety of contexts at the word, sentence, and conversation level. Students will practice reading words with the letter "R" and work on letter-sound correspondence Students will improve their phonemic and phonological awareness skills
I have been a licensed speech language pathologist since 2016. I currently hold a state license and an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. I am also an ESL teacher.
Homework is optional and will include one activity that should take less than 5-10 minutes to complete.
No supplies needed, pencil and paper optional.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
