Class Experience

Students should develop communication skills, learn how to cooperate with others in an esports setting, begin developing a sense of game strategy, and demonstrate good sportsmanship behavior.

At Level One, we will be working on core Rocket League skills, such as:
1. Shot Accuracy
2. Maintaining Momentum
3. Boost Management
4. Basics of Rotation
5. Game Physics in Rocket League
6. Understanding Car Hitboxes
I have been playing Rocket League since 2014; that's just around the time it launched! Through practice I have become a high level player, as reflected in my consistent placement in the Champion 2 to (low) Grand Champion rank. But this class isn't about rank, it's about sharing my passion and love of this amazing game! I hope to develop a safe and light-hearted environment where learners can enjoy Rocket League. And if I'm able to teach learners a few of the skills I've picked up along the way, it'll be all the better!
None! If your learner is enthusiastic about Rocket League (I know I was and still am!) then I can recommend resources, such as how to safely play online outside of class time and also some good YouTube videos to watch that can help your learner better understand the mechanics of Rocket League.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Rocket League has an ESRB rating of E for everyone. Please note there is an in-game mechanic called "demo" (demolition) where a car can be blown up. Be assured there is no gore, and in a few seconds the car re-appears on the play field.
We will be playing the game on a private server, only the teacher and the learners will be given the password to access this private server.
If the learner wishes to play this game on their own time, it is good to know that this game can:
1. Be played offline. Great for new players who wish to practice against the in-game AI.
2. It can be played online with voice and chat disabled. This means players cannot hear nor receive in-game chats from live players.

For more information feel free to contact me under "Ask a question."
Players will need a copy of Rocket League for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch.
Additionally, a strong internet connection is preferable, since we will have Zoom and Rocket League running at the same time.
Please note Rocket League is free to play on PC from Epic Games, but you will need a decent computer to ensure that you can run the game smoothly.
Finally, please be sure to confirm that the game has been updated at least five minutes BEFORE class, otherwise this could delay the learner's playtime.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me under "Ask a question."

About Me

Hello, my name is Pablo!

In high school I had an astounding Calculus teacher. He called mathematical intuition "Seeing the Light!" and he was always encouraging the class with this phrase. This teacher made it apparent that math could be...
