Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about and integrate basic musical ideas if they participate regularly. Each child progresses at a different rate - some will grasp rhythm first, for others melody will come first. All will eventually acquire all of these skills if they experience them regularly. They will also learn how to follow directions and practice impulse control through silliness and game playing :-)
I have been teaching Early Childhood music/Music Together for 15 years and have developed several curricula for the Armstrong Music School in Austin, including this one - Rock All Ages with the Chipman Family Band. My children have been raised on Music Together and Music for Little Mozarts and sometimes they will help me with class in order to illustrate the parent-child dynamic.
Nothing formal. Just applying some of the tools that you learn in class to your everyday life.
You don’t need to purchase anything for class, but I will suggest items for you to have on hand, whether it’s pots & pans or scarves or shakers that you made out of a plastic container and rice.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
These songs have been re-tooled to be kid friendly - kind of like Kids Bop. Lyrics have been changed or omitted if the originals are too mature for this age group. For example, "Magic Bus" is about riding the magic school bus. This curriculum has been taught at early childhood centers throughout Austin. All materials are appropriate for young children.
