Robotics Camp - Program your Robot with Robot Virtual Worlds
Completed by 65 learners
Ages 8-10
Live Group Class
Use block coding to begin understanding programming for robotics. Code along with your teacher in this virtual environment! (All virtual, no robot needed.)
In this 3 day robotics class, students will learn how to program their robot in a virtual environment that they can practice in for days to come! Students will use a VEX Code, a block based coding language that allows them to understand sequential programming, loops, decision making logic, and some sensors. Students will talk about solutions, as well as where they can see robots in their everyday life. Time permitting, students will also draw up designs to compete in simple robotics challenges. Students do not need a robot to participate in the lesson. All robotics programming will be done virtually. This programming class is for beginning programmers who are interested in learning a little bit about being a robotics programmer, and how programming and robotics work!
Day 1: What is a robot? Where can you see robots in everyday life?
- Introduction to Sequential Programming
Day 2: Intro to Programming structures like loops and conditional statements- Where do we use those in our life?
- Using programming structures
Day 3: Sensors. What are they and where do we find them around us? How do computers/robots/programs use sensor data? How do humans use sensor data?
- Programming with sensors
Learning Goals
Students will understand sequential programming. Students will be able to identify a robot. Students will be able to use their problem solving skills to go through simple challenges. Students will understand simple programming logic. Students will grow and appreciation and excitement for robotics and coding.
