US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Reading is an absolute, fundamental skill! Therefore, it is imperative to teach young children how to read in an engaging and stimulating way so they are excited to read and foster a love for reading that will last into their adult years. Through a fun learning environment, we will learn to decode words using phonics, comprehend what we read, and slow down while reading. Additionally, we will build skills necessary to increase confidence and reading output. This class is ideal for both emergent and struggling readers. I use an Orton Gillingham approach which is evidence-based to show results, even for children with dyslexia. We use multi-sensory activities such as games, projects, songs, and group repetition. We use several different platforms to engage the children. They will need to use a mouse or touch screen and have a basic understanding of how to use the computer. They will need to click on answers, draw on the screen, and use the zoom features. We will guide them along and explain what to do as we go through the sessions. Students should be able to complete the course without the assistance of a parent. If they do need your help, please contact me so I can adjust their curriculum. Classes are organized into levels (not always the same as their grade level) To schedule an assessment copy and paste the following: https://outschool.com/classes/one-on-one-reading-assessment-pD0YrbWp?sectionUid=952ce631-dc36-47d9-904c-1658fdb961a5&showDetails=true Level 1: Students are ready for this level if they are still learning the alphabet and to recognize letters. (This level does not need to know how to click or use computer skills. Most of these sessions will be listening, getting up and dancing, and drawing letters on paper.) Level 2: Students are ready for this level if they can recognize letters (or most letters), but are still working on phonics. Level 3: Students in this level can recognize CVC words and are beginning to read. *This is an on-going class. Students can join/leave at any time during the semester. We will review all 5 skills during each session: phonics, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and phonemic awareness. Topics will rotate every semester. Each class will consist of: 1: introduction and making connections 2: vowel practice and comprehension strategy 3: phonics, phonemic awareness, and tricky letters 4: reading out loud and comprehension check 5: students' showcase of understanding Level 4: Students in this level can read, but need help improving fluency and comprehension. Level 5: Students in this level can read and understand the text but need practice with more complex genres and analyzing text. Level 6: Students in this level can read fluently, comprehend most text, are familiar with different genres, but need practice with complex text and skills such as literary analysis. Over a 4 month period, we will focus on a comprehensive reading program similar to Barton, Orton Gillingham, and BEST Curriculums through a fun learning environment. Our class will meet once a week and aims to improve your child's confidence when it comes to learning. Curriculum Overview: Phonemic awareness (both blending and segmenting of words), phonological awareness, phonics instruction (CVC/CCVC/CVCC blends as well as digraphs), and numerous phonics rules. Mixed media is highly incorporated in class while implementing a multi-sensory learning approach to engage visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic learners. For example, visual reasoning and learning consist of visual teaching methods, student-created art and images, PowerPoint slides, posters, and flashcards. Auditory techniques include the use of YouTube videos, rhymes, language games, peer-assisted reading, and paired reading. Tactile techniques consist of using various materials to manipulate letters/words. Kinesthetic methods consist of gross motor movements such as singing, clapping, or other movements paired with phonic activities. We will follow a common core curriculum that is established for most states in the U.S.A. Students will first be taught the alphabet and their associated phonics. Next, they'll be taught to blend letters together to create CVC and CVCE words. Students will progress through the vowels, consonants, blending, segmenting, deletion, phonemic awareness, and rhyming as the weeks continue. This will be done in a fun and engaging format. Students will learn new songs, play games, and will interact with the teacher and their new friends. Reading comprehension and Spelling Activities every week. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions and we hope to help your child meet their academic goals!

No more arguing over schoolwork! Your child will LOVE to learn! 🎮📚
As an ADHD parent who didn't understand she, too had ADHD until later on in life, I'm sharing all the lessons I've learned throughout my journey. My son was "behind his peers" only because he learned differently than the other children in his class! After I implemented his learning style, he fell in LOVE with learning and has since SKIPPED AHEAD A GRADE at school.
Here's what parents say about us:💕
📣 "Mz. Marianna's approach ignited a love for learning in my 8 year old with ADHD who usually refuses to do math! We thought we had tried everything, but we're so grateful to have found her!"
📣 "Roblox Tutoring is something I had never ever thought of, but I'm so glad I found you. My son loves Roblox but getting him to read or do math was torture! Now, no more meltdowns—he actually looks forward to it and asks me when you're sending him more homework! The Robux rewards have been life changing!"
Welcome to Mz. Marianna's Tutoring Academy, where we believe every child is a genius waiting to shine! Our engaging, inclusive approach transforms traditional learning into thrilling adventures that kids love.
💡 Why Parents Choose Us:
As a mom who's child has ADHD, I understand THE STRUGGLE. My son had a hard time sitting still in class, didn't like school, and was behind his peers. I blamed myself :( It wasn't until I realized that every child learns differently and has their own learning style, that I was able to help him! I went back to school myself and earned a Master's in Child Psychology and learned how children PLAY TO LEARN!
My son has now SKIPPED AHEAD a GRADE in school, loves to read, and earns awards for MATH and ELA! I'm proud to pass this learning style on to my students and fellow tutors.
Joining my team is, YouTuber and Roblox Game Developer JON~! He is a SENDS tutor (special needs specialist) and LOVES to play Roblox.
Also joining my team is Ms. Katelyn, a college student and social justice major at Dalton State University. She loves teaching children how to unlock their learning potential and giving them the opportunity of a lifetime of freedom that comes from education.
