Hello! My name is Miss Tara. I am a mom of eight kids and have three Exceptional Student (ES) learners within my group. I have spent many years as a teacher, and have worked in different classroom settings. They include traditional, charter, online, and homeschool. In 2015 I moved to Arizona, but I was born and raised in Northern California (Cali Girl). I have a Bachelors’s degree in Psychology from NAU - Northern Arizona University (Go Lumberjack's) and currently study Behavioral Psychology at Grand Canyon University - GCU. Once I complete my Master's degree, I will continue my studies, receiving a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I hold current degrees and certificates in the following: B.S.S. Psychology from NAU TESOL and TEYL from Teach International Certification in Surgical Technology from the State of California Suicide Prevention Training Current Study: M.S. Behavioral Psychology All of my classes are IEP and 504 friendly. As a behaviorist in psychology, I have taught children with Special Needs for over 18 years, as well as raised my own ES children with learning and physical challenges. As a parent, I both homeschooled and sent my kids to brick-and-mortar schooling, so I am no stranger to the challenges of both. I also understand the difficulties that children with additional/special needs can go through. This is why I work with and encourage children that have struggles related to life and school. Unfortunately, we live in a society that has not yet realized we are all uniquely made. I believe that each of us has the right to live life to the fullest. I personally work with (in-group/hotline) children and young adults that are struggling with emotions related to sexuality and/or gender, fears, racism, sexism, depressive thought, surgeries, cancers, and other health issues, weight/image, abuse/bullying, and more. This world can be a cruel place and sometimes you need people around you who accept you for who you are. School is no exception! I hope that you will always be surrounded by such people, and I am here to make your journey a bit better. My passions are many and include Behavioral Psychology (my field of study), medicine (surgical), education, animals, cooking, art, science, computers, music, travel, and Superhero’s (Marvel and DC), Minecraft, ROBLOX, StarWars, Harry Potter, etc... I dabble in many other loves (because my kids love them:)... like Anime, digital art, 3D animation, Make-up and beauty, dance, and video games. However, I am most passionate about my family and pets! As the mother of EIGHT amazing kids, the wife to a FANTASTIC husband, and mommy to many FLUFFY and FUN four-legged friends, our blended family loves to laugh, play, and have fun. This is what I bring to the classroom. I hope to meet you soon and explore all the fun and exciting aspects a new learning experience can have. It is important to me that all children have a positive, encouraging, and relaxing time in class. I promote a stress-free environment. I believe that learning is accomplished best in situations where children are enjoying themselves. *ASL Services available
Outside of class, there will be challenges posted on the Classroom page (every week!). These challenges are optional, but when completed they have FUN and challenging in-game items that can be won!
