Class Experience

Beginner Level
Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.

A number of factors contribute to how well children adapt to adversities, including the ways in which individuals view and engage with the world, the availability and quality of social resources, and specific coping strategies.

This class will be taught based on the 7 C's of Resilience:

1. Competence: the sense that you have the ability and skills to deal with stressful situations and tough times

2. Confidence: activities that help with self-esteem

3. Connection: provide a social group where students can make friends and discuss topics while completing art projects and tasks

4. Character: discussions on the desire to do the right thing, and the strengths that support you to do so

5. Contribution: learn to look at talents, accomplishments, and contributions to the world

6. Coping: healthy ways to manage stressful times

7. Control: responsibility for choices
