Rise and Thrive: Mastering a Growth Mindset (Summer Camp)
What's included

*A growth mindset means a person believes their intelligence, talents and abilities can improve with effort. The growth mindset embraces challenges, perseveres in the face of failure and focuses on the process instead of the outcome. Example: "I'll ask for help, and then practice." *A fixed mindset means a person believes their intelligence, talents and abilities are fixed and won't change. Often times the fixed mindset will avoid challenges, give up easily and focus on the outcome. Example: "I'll never get it." There are twelve areas we will tackle within the growth mindset and three classes scheduled for playing games using a growth mindset. The lessons do not build on each other, so please feel free to stop in for one class/topic, or for all twelve topics and three interactive games! Since this is an on-going summer camp, the last week of classes will be August 7th. The class breakdown: *Get to Know You Questions *Skit (teacher created google slideshow)-Learners will read/perform or listen (depending on their comfort level) to a skit that encompasses each of the growth mindset areas covered in this class. The skits are light hearted, fun and interactive to keep the learners laughing, while thinking about their growth mindset. *Task Card (teacher created questions)-After completing the skit your learner will be presented with questions that aim to bring out the growth mindset. Example: Share a time you used positive self-talk in a challenging situation. What did you tell yourself? *Challenge-The learner will be challenged to use the growth mindset lesson after class.
