Right Brain, Write: Adventures in Creative Thinking and Writing
Class experience
US Grade 3 - 6
This student centered class will focus on students' free writing after being given a prompt to free their creative thinking. Each week will be a different type of prompt. After a short discussion of the prompt, students will be given 5-10 minutes to write a response to that prompt. We will then discuss their writing, pulling out the "gems" that will stand out from their writing. Then, depending on how much time, students will write further on those gems-- perhaps a poem or a short story....
Students will improve their ability to write to a prompt, free up their creative thinking, and identify the "gems" that will show up in their free writing.
