Class Experience

Rhyming is an important skill in phonemic awareness and teaches children how language works.  They are able to notice and work with sounds in words.  Rhyming benefits your child's reading skills in the areas of reading with expression and making predictions.  Rhyming also helps with writing words that share common sounds such as cat, hat, and bat.  And, rhyming is fun and adds to the joy of reading! This class is taught in English.

Learning Goals:
-Rhyme identification (recognizing words that rhyme and those that don't rhyme)
-Matching rhyming words
-Producing words that rhyme with another

Upon enrollment, you will receive a list of any supplies needed.  Typical supplies might include: paper, pencil, print-out of a link sent by Mrs. G., and markers (beans, pennies, etc.) for BINGO type games.

40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
