In this fun, interactive class learners will be brainstorming ideas and building an outline for individual topics to write about. Learners will discover what a Thesaurus is and how to use it in all genres of writing and poetry. We will start with a simple five-line stanza or 2-3 four-line metrical unit. (Later classes will build on gaining an "ear" for "flow") Bouncing ideas off each other, learners will experience group dynamics and self-expression as they discover and hone their individual writing styles. By choosing a topic, then fleshing out an outline, and getting feedback from the teacher and peers, learners will have a good understanding of the creative process. Learners will also have their first draft. Frame it! Who knows where they will go from here?
