In this one day course, we will learn about, discuss and analyze important women in history. We will study the women’s past, how they became influential and what contributions they have made on history. We will also consider how they have shaped society and history, as well as how strong their impact influences us today. We will discuss two women, spending a detailed thirty minutes on each woman with discussions and engagements in between. The two women we will be learning about are Jane Cooke Wright who contributed to the discovery of chemotherapy, and Barbara Jordan who was the first African American women to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. I will provide pictures of each woman so the students are able to visualize who it is they are learning about, as well as discussions and questions are always welcomed. No previous experience or knowledge is required, just come ready to have some fun!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone! My name is Zeni (Zen-e) and I am going to be teaching an array of topics within the social studies/ history subject. I have two bachelors degrees, one being in History and the other being Mexican American Studies. I am so passionate about our history in the world, as well as passionate about learning. I feel that with the knowledge I am able to bring to my students it can take them far within their life journey. I want to be the kind of teacher that inspires students to want to know more, to want to research more, to do more for themselves and their community. I also love many other things like my puppy Sally who is a Cocker Spaniel, make-up, clothes, hair and all! I hope to inspire, but ultimately, I hope to be inspired by the many students that I have the honor to come across. Let's make learning fun! Let's make it engaging! Let's do this thing!
