Description

Class Experience

I taught high school math in a public-school setting for six years before my eldest was born. Since then, I have continued to teach from home online, and in private lessons, while homeschooling my children. I strive to meet students on their level, figuring out how they learn best, and adjusting my teaching to help them understand and be successful. One of my favorite parts of teaching has been working with small groups of students or one-on-one sessions where I can really get to know the student, their needs, and their learning style. I focus on helping students understand the "why" behind the work they do, and not just the "how". I want them to be critical thinkers, not just human calculators.

I have been teaching through Outschool since August 2019 and I love the opportunities to help students gain confidence and be successful with math! The live online format of this class means your student will get to ask questions and receive specific feedback designed to help them succeed. With so many free video math resources available online, you may be wondering if a "live" class is really worth it. Many of the free resources are wonderful and can be helpful, but having an experienced teacher to explain the concepts, answer questions, and offer immediate feedback is truly invaluable. If your student struggles with math or has low confidence in their math ability, this class is a great format for them! Even if your student excels in math, the personal interaction available through the live classes is a great way for them to continue on their math journey!

About Me

I love math! I love to teach math, including Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, and even Pre-calculus. To me, math is fun, but I know not everyone feels that way. I love to make accessible and understandable to all types of learners. I have experience...
