Tired of flashcards? This fast-paced game of Kahoot! will have your child practicing their addition facts while having fun at the same time! This class is designed for students who already know how to add and want to improve their speed, accuracy, and mental math abilities. This class is NOT recommended for students who are just beginning to learn how to add. We will be practicing problems up to 10+10=20. Students will answer multiple choice questions before the 20 second timer runs out. I will review problems that the students need help with and model strategies for finding the correct answer. However, there will not be a formal teaching segment during this class. Students need to have a second device to play along during class. This phone or tablet can NOT be the same device they are using for Zoom. We will be using the Kahoot! app. Students earn points for answering questions correctly and quickly. While the game is competitive in nature, I always celebrate the successes of every student and praise them for their individual achievements. We will be answering new addition problems every class, so students are welcome to sign up for multiple class sessions to keep practicing adding.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Teacher Rebecca and I am excited for the opportunity to teach your child!
I graduated cum laude from Georgia State University with my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood graduation. As a classroom teacher, I taught kindergarten through 4th grade in one classroom. Successfully teaching such a wide range of students at once depended on my ability to customize the curriculum to each student. This individualized focus carries over into my online classes too. I am always assessing my students to determine how I can help them learn best.
I have also worked as a music teacher for kindergarten through 12th grade. Music has been one of my lifelong passions. I started playing the piano when I was 5 years old. Since then, I've learned how to play many different instruments, including the alto saxophone, flute, and French horn. I was the assistant drum major in my high school marching band. I have performed in a variety of honor bands, choirs, jazz bands, ensembles, and more.
In addition to teaching with Outschool, I am also an online ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. In the past year, I have taught over 4,500 classes to students ages 3 to 15.
I look forward to seeing your child in my classroom soon!
