🤔 Picture this: a farm filled with overworked and mistreated animals, fueled by fiery idealism and passionate slogans as they strive to build a utopia of progress, justice, and equality. But as the story unfolds, we witness one of the most satirical fables ever written—a sharp, thought-provoking fairy tale that reveals the darker side of revolution and the rise of totalitarianism. 🐴 What fate awaits these animals? How do humans influence their journey? Just how clever are those pigs? And what does revolution truly mean? These are just some of the compelling questions we’ll explore as we read and analyze this captivating story together.

Throughout this course, your teen will immerse themselves in the pages of Animal Farm, tackling three to four chapters per lesson, over a total of 10 chapters. 📝📖 But don’t expect a typical classroom experience—my class is packed with excitement and creativity! Your teen will enjoy engaging chapter introductions via pre-recorded videos from me, complete thought-provoking chapter assignments, and unleash their imagination with creative Canva projects, such as animated slideshows (for self-paced users). 🎨✨

We’ll discuss how Orwell uses the characters and events on the farm to represent the real-world struggles and power dynamics that occurred during the Russian Revolution, and how these themes continue to resonate today. This unique blend of literature and social studies will not only help your teen understand the historical context of the novel but also encourage them to think critically about current societal issues. 🔍💡

In the assignments and asynchronous student-teacher discussions, we’ll also explore the complex symbolism in Animal Farm and how Orwell cleverly critiques the corruption of revolutionary ideals. From the hardworking Boxer the horse to the manipulative Napoleon the pig, each character embodies different aspects of human nature and political ideology. 🐷 Your teen will be encouraged to analyze these characters, draw parallels to historical figures, and consider how the lessons from this allegory apply to the modern world. 🌏

As we progress through the book, we’ll use a variety of interactive tools and activities to bring the story to life. Each lesson is designed to foster creativity and deeper understanding, from analyzing key quotes and symbols to debating the ethical dilemmas faced by the animals. The assignment will be dynamic and inclusive, ensuring that your teen has a chance to voice their opinions and insights. 💬✨

By the end of this course, your teen will not only have a thorough understanding of Animal Farm but will also gain valuable skills in critical thinking, literary analysis, and historical context. They’ll leave the class with a deeper appreciation for the power of literature to reflect and challenge societal norms and with the tools to engage thoughtfully with the world around them. 🌟📚

🧑‍🏫 My Teaching Expertise:

I have had the pleasure of teaching "Animal Farm" in my Social Studies classes for many years, it is one of my favorite adult fables and has a very important history lesson hidden within it. Not only do students learn in English, but they learn in Social Studies, History, & Politics as well.

🍎 My Teaching Approach

My journey as an educator has been shaped by a passion for learning. I've earned several EDU college credits in addition to my undergraduate and graduate degrees in education. Guided by educational theories such as constructivism, humanism, realism, idealism, and brain-based learning, I’ve built a solid foundation in teaching, where I serve as a guide, coach, and mentor to my students.

I embrace a modern teaching approach that is both well-researched and supported by educational studies. This method has proven to be effective in both traditional school settings and virtual classrooms. During my advanced studies in higher education, this approach was a cornerstone of my teaching philosophy.

As educators, we understand that lectures aren't as effective as interactive, engaging discussions. I focus on being a coach and mentor, not just a teacher. My goal is to guide students in a way that fosters their critical thinking and active participation. By asking strategic questions during discussions, I help create meaningful learning moments.

The courses I offer are advanced and accelerated, requiring strong time management and self-motivation to learn. My teaching goes beyond traditional homework and quizzes. I incorporate videos, interactive discussions, and creative slideshow video projects to make learning more engaging. I also teach students "how" to learn by encouraging independent research, helping them develop skills they’ll need as lifelong learners.

When students ask questions, I guide them to research and explore answers on their own, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving. However, if they come back to me I then give them more details. During homework review, I ask follow-up questions and give rich feedback based on their answers to deepen their understanding, encouraging them to think beyond the material.

Through this approach, I help students not only learn but also develop the skills to take control of their education and become more responsible, independent learners—a skill that will serve them well throughout their lives.

I am here to support your teen every step of the way as they navigate this exciting learning journey!
