We will cover: -resume formatting -what to include -what not to include -how to honestly pad your resume -how to determine crucial skills -basic versus flashy styles -references -who makes a good refernce? -who makes a bad reference? -how do I get a good letter of recommendation -how do I know if my recommendation is good or not -dos and don'ts of getting your first job If there is time we will also discuss interviews and techniques. What questions might you be asked and what should you ask.
Students will walk away with an understanding of what makes a good resume when they have no prior experience.
You will want access to a word processor such as Google Docs or Microsoft word
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
