Lasting approximately 55 minutes, this class includes valuable time for questions and answers, ensuring you leave with a solid understanding of proper etiquette for navigating difficult foods and demonstrating good manners at restaurants, special events, or banquets. Understanding etiquette is crucial; while children may be polite, they often lack essential table manners. As they grow, it’s vital that they develop improved behavior and presentation at dining venues. Society sets expectations regarding manners, and as children mature, they must adapt to these standards. Without this growth, they risk being seen as lacking proper training and social grace. Mastering etiquette not only enhances personal dignity but also averts potential embarrassment at the table. Poor table manners can unfortunately reflect badly on one's character, especially in the company of those who understand and practice good etiquette. Throughout this course, you'll cover essential topics, including: - Table Manners - Restaurant Etiquette - Navigating Place Settings and Silverware - Good vs. Bad Manners in a Restaurant - Handling Difficult Foods - Crafting Appropriate Responses to Invitations - RSVP Etiquette - Making Informed Menu Selections and Ordering - Proper Use of Fork and Knife - And Much More! If you would like to practice handling various items, please bring a napkin, cup, plate, fork, knife, or any other utensils you prefer to use. If you want to focus on your cutting skills, consider purchasing a banana or a can of soft fruit slices, such as peaches, for practice. *Note that this is not required.*

My name is Michelle Shannon. I am an etiquette coach, mompreneur and author of several books about etiquette and manners. I have 3 children. I love to cook, read books, teach and shop. I teach etiquette classes for children and teens. I help make children aware of the connections between kindness and proper manners. I also help make children more comfortable in social situations by teaching them to be more aware of when and how to use proper manners.
I have worked with children for over 16 years teaching children proper manners and how to be more confident while building social skills. I work with children in a one-on-one or group setting. I create small and large events like tea parties and classes at department stores to teach girls proper manners for young ladies. I also have experience working in a classroom setting assisting with teaching children and creating lesson plans. I often visit classrooms, schools, churches and events to teach people about the importance of etiquette and proper manners. Also, I'm a homeschooling parent. My daughter is now in high school. I have been homeschooling my daughter for several years.
In my opinion, as a society we may not be doing the best job teaching children proper manners. An etiquette coach will make them aware of the rules that should be followed in today's society. I think it's important to teach our children about etiquette and proper manners so that they won't get embarrassed in social situations and to prepare them for a successful future.
