Have you ever played or watched Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? If you have, our game is going to be similar! You will be on two teams, the Counterintelligence (Capturers) & Security Intelligence Service (Defenders), but no matter what your team is, your mission is to track down a spy! Who is the spy? It will be a real-world spy who could be from any country. (You must wait to find out more, since it is crucial that there not be any info leaks before our big...
This class will incorporate biographical details about a real spy, but the focus will be on cultural clues (food, music, language, etc.) and geographical clues (biomes, physical characteristics, provinces/states, landmarks, etc.). There will also be directional clues, latitude and longitude coordinates, and map reading. To win, the learners will need to complete basic Google searches or use reference books.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class focuses on a specific case of real-world espionage and while there will not be any gory details or scenes, there may be references to crime, weapons or war. The game will also be competitive, so the learners must be able to handle failing their mission.
There are no specific books or websites that will be used in this class, but it is a research game and each learner must have access to some reference materials like a globe, atlas, country profiles book, and Google.
