A photo slideshow, discussion, games, and live animals will help learners have the opportunity to take a closer look at the fascinating field of herpetology. While meeting a corn snake and leopard gecko, students will be encouraged to ask questions and share observations about each animal. Through identifying bones, turtle shells, and snake sheds, students will become familiarized with the technical terms for reptile body parts. During a slideshow, the teacher will share her own photos of some of the most interesting reptile species from around the world. Participants will be invited to share their own stories, and Miss Amalia will tell about the times that she visited the islands of the Komodo dragons, held the longest snake in the world, searched for tuataras, or cared for baby sea turtles. Topics that will be covered include: animal classification, ectothermic, reptiles, amphibians, herpetology, life-cycles, metamorphosis, insectivores, venomous snakes, crocodilians, turtles and tortoises, lizards and snakes, tuataras, komodo dragons, monitor lizards, sea turtles, pythons, anacondas, scutes, keeled scales, turtle shells
