What's included
4 live meetings
3 hrs 40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this 4 week, students will get their hands dirty and create their own story or PSA. Each week we will be learning a different part of the story creation process. Students will learn what it takes to be a reporter. Length of stories will be based on how many students sign up. Week 1: We will discuss the process of how to create a story. We will go over pitching a story, what makes a good story, reporting tips, interviews, editing, and final presentations. Week 2: Students will bring their pitch ideas to class and present them one by one. Once each student has a story idea, we will talk about details for the story. We will also start writing the scripts and talk about what goes into a script. Will there be any interviews? Will you be on camera or just doing a voiceover? Should you include still and live shots? What is the overall message? Week 3: Students should bring in the material for their story. We will focus on editing techniques and tips. If we have time, students can start editing their stories. Week 4: Students will present their stories and talk about what they learned. This class will require some outside work and some form of editing. I use iMovie on my mac but anything is welcome. Even an editing app on your phone. Experience level: all levels welcome as long as they have some editing and filming (can be on a phone) knowledge as they will be editing and filming their story outside the classroom. Students are welcome to reach out with any questions when not in class and I will do my best to answer in a timely manner. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For class policies, please see About Me section in my profile!
