Class Experience

Feeling angry, stressed, sad, fearful, or worried? In this one-time class, students will learn about how their emotions and stress impact them, and practice techniques designed to bring a feeling of peace and tranquility to their lives. This class is perfect for those who are ready to learn the basics of guided relaxation in a fun, interactive way. No prior knowledge is needed, just a desire to relax!

Students will first discuss the importance of identifying and naming emotions with guidance from the teacher. Sensitive topics will be avoided-only general definitions will be discussed. They will then compare emotions to all the shades of rainbow, and relate specific emotions to specific colors. Next, they will engage in a fun word technique to identify mixed emotions.

Students will then learn and practice relaxing deep breathing techniques through an activity called "Rainbow Breathing." Next, students will participate in a guided relaxation activity using rainbow imagery that relates to different emotions. Finally, students will have the opportunity to provide the teacher feedback and ask any questions about the relaxation exercise.

*Please note that this class is not intended to provide therapy.
