Description

Class Experience

This lesson is designed as a guided self check-in to strengthen social-emotional development. During this class, we will build on creating habits of being more mindful in the moments, how those moments make us feel and appreciating small things we might not normally think about. Students will learn not only the importance of sharing their own feelings and experiences but also build on their empathy skills as we listen to other classmates highs, lows, feelings and experiences.
For the past 20 years I have been working with kids, teaching and coaching tennis as a Certified USPTA Tennis professional. I have specialized in 10 and Under Tennis and Junior Youth Development (18 and under). While I love the game, it has been a catalyst to teach kids a skill set needed in life off of the court; confidence, leadership and mindfulness, etc. In addition, I am a Kidding Around Yoga teacher, and RYT 500 Yoga Instructor through an Yoga Alliance accredited School. My passion for yoga allows for yet another avenue to work with kids on a skill set I passionately believe is the answer to our future. Mindfulness, empathy, character development and kindness.
Students will be asked to try and share one thing they are grateful for everyday with their caregiver, either at breakfast, dinner or bedtime. Finding a time of day to share gratefulness helps create consistency.
Students need to have a piece of paper to color/draw on as well as crayons, markers or color pencils.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
