Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This two-day course will teach the concept of addition with regrouping. After teaching the concept, students will be able to guide me through problems. Students will then have time to work on problems independently. If time permits, the class will be able to collaborate in teams. Each lesson consists of one 5-10 minute mini-lesson along with guided practice and independent practice for the skill of the day.

We will model the “I do, We do, You do approach”. This will allow time for each to questions and feedback.

Students will be able to describe what it means to regroup using base ten blocks.

*Knowledge of basic addition required.
**Fluency in addition and subtraction is not required. This course will focus primarily on the concept of addition with regrouping while practicing addition facts.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to add numbers up to 1000 using the column method, use place value models to regroup the ones place, make connections between concrete models of regrouping and the written method.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is LaShaune, and I’m a wife and mother of four. I received my BS in Computer Engineering along with a minor in Mathematical Sciences from Clemson University. I went on to obtain my MBA in Information Systems Management from Strayer University. I’ve worked as a tutor and adjunct instructor primarily in mathematics during the past ten years. I am currently working on obtaining my NTA certification in reading and math. I love writing poetry, songs, and stories(whenever I have the time) and playing games with my family. I am also the owner/operator of Coastal Kids’ Corner, a virtual math tutoring company.

You will see that my classes are very small as I want to make sure I address each child and have enough time to answer questions or even reteach a concept if needed.
Please reach out to me if the available times does not work with your schedule, and I’ll be happy to find a time that does.

Also, if you send an email, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM for a response. I usually reply within a day or two. So if it’s not in your main inbox, please check your Spam folder. If it’s there, move that email to your main inbox to receive future emails there.
