In this step-by-step drawing class, students who love animals will learn to observe and draw a red fox. We start with a pencil sketch of simple shapes to understand the form and lines of a fox. Then, they will learn how to use layers of coloured pencil to draw the textured fur of this intriguing woodland animal. The background will be drawn with a simple habitat of green and blue. I will demonstrate a variety of useful coloured pencil techniques, such a blending, stippling, and cross-hatch. As we draw. I pause and chat throughout the class to keep a suitable pace for everyone. I encourage the students to show their drawings and talk about their ideas if they would like to. My classes for nature artists are filled with cheerful praise and upbeat energy. I use a second camera in my class so that the artists can easily follow my drawing process. No experience in nature art is needed, just some experience sketching and an interest in realistic drawing. I always celebrate the different ideas my students bring to class. They all enjoy learning new tips and practical techniques for drawing animals!
