Be the change that you want to see in the world. This starts with upcycling your clothing. Over 85% of clothes end up in landfills & the fashion industry is the second-largest consumer & polluter of water. We will learn how to turn an old tee-shirt into a scrunchie that is beautiful and good for the planet. I will help you learn some basic sewing techniques which you can use throughout your life to save fabrics from going to waste. At the end of the class you will have a scrunchie that you can wear.
Learning Goals
You will learn to measure fabric, sew, and create a beautiful scrunchie

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm an Outschool teacher who focuses on getting students outside enjoying nature.
I've been professionally teaching about nature, cooking, and arts for over a decade. I love teaching about plants, using wild plants in cooking, and making fiber art from plants. I feel strongly that we will start protecting plants and natural areas when we understand their value to us and the rest of the world. I teach about interactions between plants and animals, food webs, ecology & environmental science.
I have a PhD in Natural Resources, a Masters in Forestry, and a Bachelors in Environmental Studies. Join with me as we explore the natural world and learn more about the plants and animals around us. We will learn online but go outside!
