Week 1Lesson 1"It's Raining"In this class we will learn the new note E, using the right hand, and play "It's Raining" with the new note.Week 2Lesson 2Green BeltIn this class we will review the song "It's Raining" and earn our green belts.Week 3Lesson 3"Old MacDonald Had A Farm"In this lesson we will learn a new note and a new song. We will continue to work on low E and add low D. We will also learn about rests. Using these notes, we will learn "Old MacDonald Had A Farm."Week 4Lesson 4Purple BeltReview low D and "Old MacDonald Had A Farm." Then we will earn the purple belt.Week 5Lesson 5"When the Saints Go Marching In"In this lesson we will learn two new notes, high C and high D. Using these notes we will learn "When the Saints Go Marching In." We will also learn the new concept of the "tie" and whole note.Week 6Lesson 6Blue BeltIn this lesson we will review "When the Saints Go Marching In" and earn the blue belt.

An experienced K-6th grade music teacher, Dr. Brenda Buys holds a doctorate in music arts. She has been teaching music for over 20 years. She is also a performing artist who plays in chamber groups and orchestras.

Recorder Ninja - Level 1 OR experience playing the recorder, reading music, and playing songs with the notes G, A, and B.
Recorder Karate 1 Student Book with Yamaha 3-Piece Ivory Recorder - cost approx. $9. This can be purchused at Music K-8 online. Other recorders are acceptible but Yamaha is recomended. You may also wish to purchese the Recorder reward belts Essential Nine pack of 1 belt each for approx. $2.50
