Class Experience

During these lessons, we focus on building up the learner(s) specific goals, skills, and interests. During classes, topics we may work on include, but are not limited to reading chord charts and playing chords; accompanying songs; strumming techniques; reading tablature, traditional notation, and rhythmic figures; and playing melodies. Students will also be supported in developing appropriate playing position and independence.

These classes are recommended for beginner players, intermediate players, or advanced players who are looking to develop new skills and further their technique. Most students in this age range will be best suited to playing soprano recorder. However, older students or those with larger hands may be ready to play alto recorder.

In the event that the minimum enrollment for this class is not met, the teacher still plans to teach the class in the hopes of other learners joining. Parents, if you prefer that your learner ONLY work in a group and do not want them to be a single learner in class, please message the instructor to let her know.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello. My name is Sandra Girouard. I began teaching in 1989. I enjoy learning, and I absolutely love helping children learn. I have a Bachelor of Music from Westminster Choir College and a Master of Arts from the College of Education at the University of South Florida. I like to employ a variety of learning activities, including movement, singing, and games. I've been lucky to live in many different states in the U.S.A. with my husband and our three sons. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, knitting, and studying Tae Kwon Do. I look forward to meeting you in the classroom!
