25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this fun one-time class learners will get to know their recorder, learn to play their first notes and a traditional nursery rhyme. Learners (especially younger learners) may find it helpful to attend the Recorder - getting started class before joining this class but it is not necessary. Teaching will be through demonstration and online presentation. After class, notes on the key points will be sent to all learners to enable them to continue to practice before hopefully joining another class. In class learners will be taught - Correct posture for playing How to hold their recorder correctly How to position the recorder correctly in the mouth How to play notes B A and G How to tongue notes How to play Hot Cross Buns This class does not attempt to teach learners to read music, however placement of notes on the stave will be explained and notes provided to help those who wish to learn to read music. Look out for further classes in how to read music.
Learning Goals
Learners will have the necessary knowledge to play B A G on the recorder and use the notes to play Hot Cross Buns. Everyone learns at different speeds so some learners will need more practice than others. The class is accompanied by a set of notes to enable learners to practice and improve in their own time after class.
Other Details
Supply List
A recorder is essential. While these can be bought 'as toys' from toy stores I would recommend spending just a little bit extra for an Aulos or Yamaha recorder.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
