Class Experience

This class is similar to the Recorder 101 class that I offer during the school year. Students need a soprano recorder and Song Book 1 (both can be found on Amazon). Students in this summer class need to be comfortable to learning at least one piece per day and also have the option to learn more pieces by viewing the videos attached to each day's class.

Day 1: Learn B, A, G; Learn eighth, quarter, half and whole notes; combine rhythm with B, A, G; piece of the day: The Cake
Review how to play it (see practice page)
Learn piece by 2 measures; practice with students

Day 2: Review B, A, G; review rhythm patterns with B, A, G; review No. 3 -The Spell
Finger Rapid Fire (p. 23); piece of the day - Going to the Beach; Optional piece: The Dance
The Dance - all students clap the rhythm and finger on one note; students may choose to learn it

Day 3: Review TWO past pieces
No. 6 - Going to the Beach and No. 9 - The Dance
Piece of the day - Mister Mouse
Game - Random notes/rhythms; Echo me
Bonus piece - Yo-Yo

Day 4: Review TWO past pieces - No. 12 - Mister Mouse
Yo-Yo (optional piece)
Piece of the Day - Hot Cross Buns
