InformalClass Experience
This class is similar to the Recorder 101 class that I offer during the school year. Students need a soprano recorder and Song Book 1 (both can be found on Amazon). Students in this summer class need to be comfortable to learning at least one piece per day and also have the option to learn more pieces by viewing the videos attached to each day's class. Day 1: Learn B, A, G; Learn eighth, quarter, half and whole notes; combine rhythm with B, A, G; piece of the day: The Cake Review how to play it (see practice page) Learn piece by 2 measures; practice with students Day 2: Review B, A, G; review rhythm patterns with B, A, G; review No. 3 -The Spell Finger Rapid Fire (p. 23); piece of the day - Going to the Beach; Optional piece: The Dance The Dance - all students clap the rhythm and finger on one note; students may choose to learn it Day 3: Review TWO past pieces No. 6 - Going to the Beach and No. 9 - The Dance Piece of the day - Mister Mouse Game - Random notes/rhythms; Echo me Bonus piece - Yo-Yo Day 4: Review TWO past pieces - No. 12 - Mister Mouse Yo-Yo (optional piece) Piece of the Day - Hot Cross Buns Game - Who Plays What Optional piece: Mary Had a Little Lamb Review Hot Cross Buns by 2 measure; students may play any piece we learned this week for the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to play B, A, G on the recorder and will learn songs which include quarter, half, dotted half notes and whole notes. The pieces will help the student learn basic recorder skills.
