Kids love measuring, mixing and cooking in the kitchen! Join me in this ongoing class where we will make a new, delicious recipe each week. In this class students will work on reading and following step by step directions from a recipe. Cooking and baking are such a great way to put our reading and math skills to use in the kitchen. Besides, who doesn't love eating the end result of a yummy meal or treat? This class will be fun and hands on! Together, we will walk through the steps in the recipe to measure, mix and cook or bake our delicious creations. Your child will need all of the ingredients ready (NOT measured out) for the start of class and we will practice measuring accurately and combining ingredients together. Some parental assistance or supervision may be needed when working with the oven or kitchen appliances such as a blender or crockpot. Recipes will be provided in advance so you can have all supplies and kitchen utensils prepared for class. I'd suggest printing the recipe and creating a little recipe club binder of all your favorite recipes. Depending on the number of students in class and the weekly recipe we will be preparing the class time may run slightly under or slightly over the 45 minutes by a few minutes. It is very helpful if all students come to class with all of the ingredients and kitchen tools out on their workspace. Doing so allows us to get started on the recipe sooner instead of spending time collecting the necessary ingredients and tools. I hope to see you in recipe club soon! SCHEDULE OF RECIPES: Week of March 28-April 1: Pancake Mix Coffee Cake Week of April 4-8: No Bake Chocolate Chip Granola Bites Week of April 11-15: Ham and Cheddar Crescent Roll-ups
